What we make
Hum makes handmade weighted blankets in Cape Town, made to order and sized to the person, not the bed. Each one is hand-quilted from natural-fibre fabric, evenly filled with glass beads, and stitched into pockets small enough that the fill can't shift or clump. The weight settles once, and stays where it's put.

What it's for
Hum blankets are designed for deep pressure comfort, an even weight, evenly distributed, that many people find calming. They're used for sensory comfort, rest and quiet time: before bed, at the end of a long day, or whenever a bit of steady weight helps a moment feel less loose. However it's used, the idea stays the same, something even and predictable to settle under.

Made with care
Every blanket is made by hand, from the first cut of fabric to the final seam, one at a time, and only once it's ordered. Nothing is made ahead of a sale, and nothing sits unsold in stock.
Offcuts don't go to waste either: the same fabric becomes the drawstring bag each blanket ships in, so a scrap from one blanket becomes the packaging for the next. Filled with plastic beads and finished in a natural-fibre outer, each one is built to hold its shape and be used for years.

A weighted blanket should sit at roughly 8 to 12% of the wearer's body weight. Tell us the size and weight of the person it's for, and we'll help you choose.

Before you buy
Not suitable for children under three, or for anyone who can't remove the blanket on their own. First use should be supervised. Stop using it if it feels uncomfortable.
